I believe in supporting students holistically.  "Teacher" is just one of several hats in my wardrobe along with "Advisor," "Mentor," "Colleague," and "Friend."  I strive to combine attributes from each of these roles to create a healthy, professional, and comprehensive approach to teaching. 

I work to make my students feel cared for and appreciated.  As a result, I find this creates a natural environment for success.  A good teacher understands that each student is a unique individual with valid and valuable life experience to contribute to the classroom.  A good teacher listens, provides empathy, and is flexible.  A good teacher understands that "respect is earned, not given," but also respects everyone.

I also believe learning is a lifelong process.  As a teacher, I constantly seek to learn new information, live new experiences, and acquire new skills. Passionate teachers are passionate learners.  Experience and knowledge are living, breathing, and ever-changing.  My teaching style reflects this same dynamic journey.
